Day 30 - No Bingeing!! ( a whole month)
I admit it. I cheated. I weighed myself a day early. I lost 2 pounds this week for a total of 5 pounds in two weeks on Weight Watchers. Woohoo!! I am going strong. I feel completely satisfied with the amount of food and type of food I am eating. Here's a typical day:
Breakfast - yogurt with blueberries and strawberries (3)
Snack - nuts (4)
Lunch - turkey, cheese, Pepperidge Farm snack sticks, grapes (8)
snack - Banana "Ice Cream" (banana blended with skim milk and cinnamon) with three pizzelle cookies (4)
Dinner - chicken breast, corn on the cob, fresh cantaloupe (7)
Dessert - Swedish Fish (4)
My weight has moved from my "disgusting/intolerable/have to stop the madness" range into my "heavier than I like but at least tolerable" range. I realize these ranges are different for everyone but I think we all have them.
Evan has been attending Lego Robotics camp (4 hours a day) this week and really enjoying it.
Emily started tennis today with the instructor at our local community college and he was amazing. I am not athletic and the only team sport I ever did was cheerleading. So, I haven't been around much coaching but I know good teaching when I see it. It was fascinating to me to see the way he went about teaching Emily the fundamentals of tennis. It sounds silly to say, but I never realized how important the serve is. I can already see that having great coaching makes a BIG difference.
Next week will be challenging food wise, because I am staying in NYC all week to go to the summer institute at Columbia Teachers College and learn from the best of the best. Last summer it was an amazing learning experience! Dinner will be the most challenging of course. But I am going with a plan and some healthy snacks. My goal is to maintain for the week so I do not undo my hard earned progress. :)
I lose the same weight over and over and my goal is to make my health changes permanent. I am seeking CONSISTENCY, balance and moderation. I want healthy eating to be a normal, natural part of my everyday life.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Off to WW I Go...
Day 16 - No Bingeing
No bingeing but definitely too much eating. I gained 2 pounds this week, primarily because last night we took friends out on the boat to dinner and then Ben and Jerry's. The above photo was taken before we left for dinner. I ate pretty well at the restaurant but had a waffle cone with heath bar crunch afterwards. Today happened to be weigh in day, so I had to face the bad news. Ugh.
The bad news is I now weigh 137. I felt mopey all day, although I am sure not getting enough sleep fed into that. The good news is my misery spurred me to go to my local Weight Watchers Center and pick up the new points plus program. I had been resisting doing anything structured or involving counting. I think it makes me hyperfocused on food and in the long run, I don't know if that is good. However, I feel gross and I have a trip to NYC in 3 weeks. I don't want to be at my peak weight for that. So, back to diet land I go. Weight Watchers has worked for me before. Not every time, but one time I achieved lifetime status. I am going to try and trust the program. I went on line today and got all set up.
"Change can be hard, but sometimes if we embrace the opportunity to start over and change our own attitude and mindset, we can create something that is more meaningful." I read this quote on an education blog today. The blog is written by a principal in Canada - George Couros. He was blogging about his move to a new house, not weight loss. However, I do think it applies to weight loss as well.
