Stressed

I haven't posted in a while but wanted to let everyone know it is not because I have fallen off the wagon.  :) I am incredibly stressed right now, so I am just focusing on maintaining my weight loss at 6 pounds and my exercise at 3 days a week, without trying to lose weight. I have been maintaining in both areas since Jan 1st.

In fact, I have consistently exercised for 3 days a week for 9 weeks now. This week I ran 3 miles without stopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stress Relief

Yesterday was the 12th anniversary of my mom's death. My mom and I were best friends and the horror of losing her is not something I can express adequately in words.  Her photo is above with her two Collie dogs (Spirit and Apache) when they were puppies.

Yesterday was an extremely difficult day for my son at school. (ugh) Today also ended up being rough for my son and I came home feeling super stressed. I definitely wanted to eat junk. But - I. Did. Not. Binge. Instead I jumped on the treadmill and ran 2 miles.  It wasn't an easy choice to make, but once I was done, I was glad I made that choice. Then I vented on the phone to a girlfriend.  :)  I kept telling myself that gaining weight would only exacerbate my stress and that I had no real "reason" not to run.

Welcome 2012!

It is nice to have it be New Year's Day and not have that "fat feeling".  I am happy that I have already been working on consistently eating better and exercising and didn't wait for a resolution on January 1st. I am also glad that while I did overindulge a little during the holidays, I did not allow them to cause me to gain weight. I would like to set some goals for 2012. You will notice I avoid specific weight goals. Although, I must admit that they exist in my mind.

Goals for 2012:

1. I am striving to become less obsessed with food, weight, and diet. I want to be a consistent eater, without big fluctuations in my eating pattern.

2. I want to exercise consistently for an entire year. I actually enjoy exercise, but I tend to do well for a few months and then stop. I also tend to be either doing something 100% or not at all. I need to be more moderate in my approach because that will lead to better consistency. My plan is to keep the exercise at 3-4 times a week. This is a significant goal for me and I will be really proud of myself when I complete it.

3. I have some specific exercise goals related to running. I want to work up to running 3 miles straight and then work on picking up my pace. I will consider a 5k. :)

4. I plan to finish up my graduate classes towards my CAS (certificate of advanced study) in Administration. Then I will have an internship that is one school year long, which should occur during the 2012-2013 school year.
